🛡 Conservation Status

Introduced Sterile hybrid stocked by MDNR in select Michigan lakes as a trophy predator management tool. Cannot reproduce -- all individuals are hatchery fish. The DNR's fish list notes the hybrid "was formerly stocked" indicating periods of reduced programs, but MDNR has continued stocking in targeted lakes.

Same weedy, clear-water habitat as muskellunge. Stocked in select Michigan lakes where the DNR manages for trophy fisheries.
